Maceration derived from the Latin meaning macerace soaking, the method most commonly used because this method does not require complicated tools just withsimple tools and low prices but the ith optimal results.
Maceration method done in a way simplicia already cut into small pieces placed onthe container or wide-mouthed vessel with liquid penyari corresponding to the activesubstance, then the vessel was closed tightly and shake it in over and over for 2-14 days. Shuffle is so that the solvent flows over into the entire surface of the alreadydelicate simplicia. Substances contained in simplicia will be attracted by the solventdue to the nature of the polarity and the process continues cyclically. The extract is separated from the pulp by filtering, squeezed and rinse it with a new solvent (Ansel,1989)
Rinsing process performed to obtain the remaining ingredients to rebalance theextractive and loss during the evaporation that occurs in penyarian and pressing(Voight, 1995).
